Fonds de solidarite FTQ

Post by albator73 »

Hi,

I been told to be careful and check this one. Fonds de solidarite FTQ from Quebec, which is a RRSP in Canada, is it consider a RRSP the same as Sunlife/Desjardins RRSP for IRS?

Is there any RRSP which is different in term of the treaty between Canada/US I should be careful?

Also, stupid question but important, if I bought my RRSP on end of Feb 2010, in Canada it will be report in tax 2009 but in US does I report it on tax 2009 or 2010?

Thanks

All RRSPs are covered by the treaty, and form 8891.

Any reporting on 1040 and 8891 are based oin the calendar. You never report contributions to RRSps on 88091 if you have made the election, and your contributions are not tax deductible.
After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best
