Permanent Resident moving temporarily to US

Post by dungeonsss »

Hello everyone,

I am a permanent resident of Canada. My husband is going to work in US temporarily for 2 years on a J-1 visa.

I am a telecommuter. As this is only a temporary move, I'd rather not go through changing residencies. Is it legal for me to keep working for my current job as a Canadian resident in US with the J-2 dependent visa?

Thanks in advance to all users of this forum that turned this place into a great source of invaluable information.

As a dependent J-2 visa holder you may work in the US if you apply for permission under USCIS provisions which include teh fact that you only apply for the work visa after you arrive in teh US and you do not need to work to provide for you spouse who is your primary J1 visa holder you are associated with while allowed to enter into the US.
