Freelance work in Canada from US on TD

Post by bigears » Mon Nov 29, 2010 2:12 pm

It's been reported many times here and elsewhere that, although employment in the US is prohibited on TD status, it can be possible under very specific conditions.

I *think* I might fall under those conditions: TD, self-employed, with all clients in Canada (having no US affiliation). I'll be living in the US more-or-less full time.

Since we're not paid to be lawyers on this forum, the usual advice is to get legal advice. I'm happy to do this, but so far I can't find a lawyer who can get past the official "can't work on a TD" statement.

Any recommendations for a lawyer who could help (or how I could help a lawyer to understand)?
