DHS Authorization for SSN under TN visa
SSA requires that to get an SSN for a non-citizen in the US authorization from DHS is required. How is this obtained? Does the TN visa in the passport imply this authorization?
Employment authorization from DHS is required. That is your TN. Submit the SS-5 form along with the required documentation and wait 3-4 weeks while SSA confirms with DHS that you are authorized.
