Crazy issue. I sent a personal $USD check with my passport renewal by mail. The office responded with a form letter that they need a check or money order drawn on a "US Bank". On the phone the agent suggested that would be a bank headquartered in the US ??? i.e. not TD
There are virtually no US bank retail branches in Toronto - really.
I am waiting for a call back from a real agent not first line pretend agent. Maybe a money order from TD would have done it? Anyone know about this?
How to pay for US passport renewal

A bank draft issued by a Cdn bank is always drawn on a "US bank" -- a bank that they have affiliation with in US.
That is different than a check drawn on your US dollar Cdn account.
Any bank, any branch in Canada can do this.

After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best
