Does TN status require sponsorship?

often times US employers will ask if you require sponsorship to work in the US. As a current TN holder - finance professional - CA and CPA covered under NAFTA, employee provided a letter of employement - does this constitute sponsorship? Just trying to understand whether, when the employer askes if you require sponsorship are they referring to TN or those individuals not covered under NAFTA?

Tn requires sponsorship. However, they are probably scared and thinking 'sponsorship' means money and lawyers.

You allay their fears, by saying pretty much what you said: Employee takes specially worded employment letter to border and gets immediate authorization for 3 years.
