Visitor Status awaiting Spousal Sponsorship, Tax Preparation

Post by tsc422 »

I relocated to Canada in June of last year. I got married to a Canadian Citizen on November 10th. Received an extension to my stay in March of 2013 to stay until March 1st of 2014. According to what Ive read so far We need to file as married in Canada. And We also need to include my income from the states into her tax return even though I havent and cannot work here in canada until my PR is approved. My question is when i do my 1040 in the US do I have to include my spouse's income on the US side and Do I have to file married or can I file Single and not include her income on my 1040? Does the USA require global income like Canada does. My wife has never been to the USA except for a seven day visit last February. Is there anything else I need to know prior to filing my taxes because I need to finish mine in order to complete hers since She needs my Net income. Thank you in advance
