Cdn Living & Working in US looking to open franchise in

Post by mdezzy4 »

My wife and I are both Canadian but live and work in the US under H1-B status. We are interested in possibly opening a franchise in Canada through a Canadian company. We would still live in the US and do much of the work from home in the US; only having to make occasional trips to Canada for the franchise. Here are some of the questions we have:

1) Would we be able to open a franchise in Canada and still live and work in the US in our current jobs?
2) If yes, would we look to form an LLC or some other entity for this business?
3) What would the tax implications be?

The company is also looking to possibly expand into the US. Would we be able to open a franchise in the US under our current situation? Would we be able to open franchises in both Canada and the US?

Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
