Working in Canada?

Post by FiestyUs »

Please help a confused Aussie!

Mu husband, myself and our 2yo son are all Australian citizens. He has an opportunity to obtain emplyment in Canada on a one year contract, and we obviously, would like to accompany him there.

From what I understand he is eligible for a work visa? And are we able to accompany him easily enough?

It depends.

If he is under 31, he may qualify for a working holiday visa for Australian nationals.

In a few cases, it is possible to work without a work permit - or he may have to obtain a postive Labour Market Opinion before he can obtain a work permit.

If he obtains a work permit, you and the children can come along, and in some circumstances you can work also. It is not really feasible to answer your questions completely in a forum like this.
