PR living in US needs help!!!

Post by sk »

Hey guys.
I got my Canadian PR back in 2002. I live and work in the US at present. But I would like to settle down in Canada now. Do you think there will be any obstacles in doing that? If so how can I overcome them?
Help Please!!

Unfortunately, the new Immigration Act, which came into force on 28 June, 2002, requires you to sepnd 730 days out of every five year period as a permanent resident in Canada. Unless you or your spouse have been working for a Canadian company while in the U.S., it is now too late and you have lost your permanent residence. If you want to live in Canada now you need to apply all over again.

Thank you Ron. Now I need to decide on a course of action. Could you tell me...
!. Is there any way to renew my PR?
2. If not do I have to begin the application process from scratch, like the first time around?
3. Will have to submit FBI/Ploice clearance all over again?
4. Could there be any negative impact for having lost my PR and applying again?

I really appreciate the help!

Re:

1) No, unless you can meet the 730 day test there is no way.
2) Yes, you would have to start all over again
3) Yes, you have to submit police cleraances all over again
4) No, I would not expect any negative impact because you previously obtained permanent residence
