dual citizen, getting divorced and relocating to canada
I am a dual citizen, getting divorced and planning to reside permanently in Canada (after never having been a permanent resident there). I understand that spousal support is taxed; how about income obtained through the divorce (i.e. lump sum)? Also, should I wait until moving to Canada to purchase a vehicle, for registration and tax purposes? When/how should I register as a permanent resident? I hope to eventually work legally (so I know I need a SIN) and I will need healthcare within a few months of the divorce. (I know that I have to be a resident for 90 days prior to obtaining healthcare.) We own a house there and vacationing in Canada for 30 years. It's a bit overwhelming.

there is a tax forum for tax questions' this isn't it.
After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best
