Inputting salary info on TaxACT without a W-2 form

Post by CdnAmerican »

Basic question. I am a USC with employment income in Canada. I downloaded the free version of TaxACT. When it asks if I had a salary and I indicated Yes, it just punts me into the W-2 form and doesn't seem to give me a way to put in wage information in that field without completing a W-2. Am I missing something really basic?

I have also done the forms by hand, but wanted to use TaxACT to double check for math errors. I can live without it but feel it would be better to use it if possible ..

Thanks!

Hi, I use TaxACT delux edition as a download.
There is a second type of work income called "foreign employer income" for FEC. I didn't need to do a mock W2. Look for foreign employer income and put your details there. It should also ask you about the exclusion later if you do this.
