I have been living in the USA for the last seven years. I am currently on H1B status. I am moving to Canada this year (as a legal resident) and I was wondering if I would have to pay any import taxes and duties on my cars, furniture, and other personal property. Thank you for your help.
Import taxes and duties

Generally no tax will be due on personal items, except for cars over a certain value.
However as a condition of such a waiver af tax, 'settlers' do have to fill a few forms, and might have to prove previous ownership of items for at 6 months, and are not allowed to sell such items after arrival.
