are us taxes and penalties paid claimable on my cdn return

Post by moi »

I left the us in 2012, and just paid out my taxes and penalties to the irs....I was wondering, if any portion of that is claimable, or is there a line on my cdn return where I can enter that...assuming this is beneficial for me. TIA

Did you report any US income on your Cdn return. You probably should not have.

If not then, no, they are not claimable. Even if they were, only the taxes, not the interest penalties would be claimable.
