I am a Canadian citizen livng and working in the US for 3 1/2 years. My daughter attends univesity in Canada and I pay for her tuition. She is considered a resident in Canada for tax purposes so she gets the appropriate tuition tax receipt for her taxes. Her income is not enough to take advantage the tax break and since we live in the USA we cannot claim the excess like we could if were Can residents. My question: Are tuitions paid to schools outside the US claimable on US taxes? Will a Can university provide non-resident type tuition receipts to allow me to this?. Anyone have any experiences along these lines. Thanks in advance.

The fact that the University is in canada will not hamper eligibility for any US tax breaks.
ALL Cdn Universities have specialists in their Admissions office that will help US students fuill in the correct paperwork, and many have websites that clearly expalin the procedure for their American students.
