Canadian Corp an option?

Post by JRob78 »

So I have 2 jobs in the US and have a TN Visa for both.

Job 1 is under a W2 and I work in IL for 4 days a week once a month

Job 2 is under a 1099 and based in NJ, worked remotely from Canada

Is it possible to have Job to paid to a Canadian Corp? What I am liable for tax wise if i go this route? All work for Job 2 will performed while in Canada.

In 2013 I worked over 183 days in the US and lived in the US until the end of Feb 2014.

Since you live in canada, why would you have a contract paid to anything other than a Cdn corp? That is the way to do it.

You would not need a TN for Job 2, unless you go down to US occsasionally. A b1 would probably suffice.
After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best
