Foreign Housing Expenses

Post by Steve113 »

My accountant's tax notebook has a "Foreign Housing Expenses" section. The information required is quite detailed and I am trying to figure out if any of this applies to me or if I can leave it all blank.

I am USC living in Canada working for a Canadian employer who doesn't reimburse my housing expenses or provide me with housing.

Does the "Foreign Housing Expenses" section apply to me?

Thanks in advance.

Probably not. This is used in conjunction with Form 2555, to exclude your foreign income. You can read up on it if you wish on IRS.gov.

After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best
