NR4 slips - minimum amount

Post by LisaS »

It is my understanding that any account in Canada generating at least $50 in income would result in an NR4 slip being issued. That is also what I have read on the Canada revenue site.

Does anyone know of any exceptions to this? I have a savings account that apparently generated $60 in income but I didn't get a slip. I called the bank and they don't have (or couldn't find) a slip on record for me.

The $50 minimum is correct.
However, is there a particular reason you want the slip? There should not have been any tax withheld, and IRS accepts other evidence of income, like your bank statements, which you should be keeping for 7 years in any event.
After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best
