confirm receipt of 8893
Given the penalties involved, should we all be confirming that the IRS actually receives our completed forms? I still submit using paper and am afraid they could lose it!

You can check your account online.
If they received your 1040, rest assured everything else would be in it.
I have talked to many accountants and they say that penalties are rarely levied against people who're coming forth and trying their best (and have also paid them big $$).
The odd penalty when levied, is fought and showing that someone willfully neglected is a pretty big burden (ok unless he/she filed in 5 years then didn't in the next 5).
