Freelance work in the U.S. as a Canadian

Hi there,

I am currently in the US on a TN visa. My girlfriend is self-employed in Canada working as a home-based nutritional consultant (independent contractor).

Is it possible for her to consult with US clients while visiting in the US? She'll be visiting for several months (<100 days) and wants to continue taking clients. Can she be paid through her Canadian company?

If she eventually decides to move to the US, is there any option for her to be able to work as a a self-employed consultant? This would require marriage and a TD visa but short of getting a green card, I can't find a viable method for her to be able to continue her consulting.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

No, this is not work that is permitted under a B1 business visitor status, thus is illegal.

She could deal only with her Cdn clients during her B2 tourist status.
After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best
