Just to be clear you said ALL interest on mortgages or home equity lines are deductible, and I said there is a limitation in place of max $ 100K or $50K so this is not ALL cases. But some people take the position that it will be and claim it regardless. So what we say is subject to analysis and can be argued either way.

Many people make the mistake that only interest from the mortgage on the actual property is deductible. I didn't want your answer to perpetuate this misconception.
