TN also partner in a different company?

Post by joe_canuck100 »

Canadian citizen, US resident

I have an opportunity to be involved as a partner in a C corp company unrelated to my TN visa work.

If I do not have the company sponsor me then is this okay tax wise in US?

Thanks for any help on this.

Its not a tax issue, its an immigration issue. If you are an active partner of a firm they cannot sponsor you, and you cannot work for them. You can only be a silent non-controlling partner.
After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best
