Reporting US income

Post by mehran »

I am filing a departure return in Canada, with my departure on January 15.
But my US employment started in January 2.

So for those 2 weeks, how should I report my US income to Canada?
1- Should I prorate the whole 2012 income?
2- or should I report pay checks that I got during that period? which I didn't, meaning I didn't get any US income during those 2 weeks.

Thanks

You are fine not reporting any income, although reporting your first paycheck (gross amount) for 1/1 to 1/15 would be also correct (if you are paid semi-monthly).
After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best
