Hi,
I moved to the US on a TN Visa in Aug 2010. I thought i would stay there for the long term so I filed a full 1040 for the 2010 tax year and filed a Canadian departure return.
I quit my job in April 2011 and moved back to Canada. For the 2011 tax year, can you please tell me if my following plan is correct:
1) Report worldwide income on full 1040 (electing Article XXV for standard deduction)
2) Prepare arrival T1 return (reporting income after my arrival)
Is this correct? Also, I can't find an area in the 1040 to disclose that I have departed the US. How is IRA informed that I am departing?
Thanks in advance.

1. Yes, but you do not need any treaty evlection. IRS allows anyone who lleaves to file a full year return for year of departure.
2. correct.
There is no departure date. you could obtain a 1040-C, but most do not and it is not a requirement.

After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best
