This is our main tax information forum which deals with topics concerning Canadians living and working in the U.S., U.S. citizens contemplating working in Canada, and all aspects of Canadian and U.S. income tax and related adminstrative issues.
I have been working in US for a US employer for about 4 months in 2011 on TN. I was paid on W2, had taxes, social security and medicare deducted from my pay. Now I have come across this form CBT56 which states Canadians may be exempt from paying social security. I already contributed the full amount of CPP for 2011 before I came to US. How do I proceed now? Is there any way to make adjustments for the SS that has already been deducted from my pay?
CPT56 does not apply to US employees of US employers.
