Canadian Resident in Canada Working for US Corp

Post by bcmodus »

I will be paid as an employee of US corp.
I will travel to the US perodically to corp office and client sites.
I will be working under TN Visa.

1. Will my employer be required to withhold US taxes/payroll deductions etc?

2. Will I be required to file taxes in both countries (using the taxes paid to the US as a Foreign Tax Credit on my Cdn taxes)

3. Can I still put money into RRSP and get a tax benefit. My understanding is that Canada will tax any 401K deposits, thereby negating any tax advantage.

Thanks in advance for your help.

The US corp must set up Cdn payroll for you, since you live and work in canada.

You are incorrect about 401(k), but this should not even apply to you since you are a Cdn employee.
