how to fix the tax mistakes for Canadian with TN in US

we are Canadians with TN since 2019, we fill the tax form every year to US; however, we have a bank account with big savings in Canada, but the interests is little, so we didn't report it to US, this year because the interests is more than 1500 dollars, we think we need to report to US; but someone said we should report this account to US every year, if we only report the account this year, we will have problems with IRS; can someone give us some advice on how to deal with this problem?
