I'm a long-time non-resident of Canada living in the US.
I received about C$10k in interest from the Canadian federal government in 2023. I informed the paying agency that I am a non-resident, living in the US. They did not deduct any tax and issued a T5 at the end of the year.
I'm wondering if I should contact the non-resident office, or just wait for them to put the clues together and send me a notice of collection with interest penalties. I'd really like to just close it out ASAP so all my returns are accurate.

Re: Part XIII not deducted
By treaty, US residents do not have any Cdn tax obligation on interest, a no withholding was necessary.
After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best
