1040

Post by brianbbc »

My children, now adults, living in Canada have both US and Canadian citizenships. They do file with cra, and I know the irs requires filing but they are students and earn under the standard deduction set by the irs. Do they need to file a 1040 with low income threshold? The typical American living in the USA won’t have to, unless there is a financial benefit of getting money back, but what about this situation. Can’t find an answer on this

There is no real difference for them living in Canada. Just be sure that they aren't missing any reporting requirements like FBAR.
