Hi there,
Are spousal RRSPs treated the same by the US as regular RRSPs? (i.e. same complexity as having one's own RRSPs)
My wife and I are both USA-Canada dual citizens (originally just US citizens) and I'd like to open up a spousal RRSP for her (she and I both have our own RRSPs already)
I saw this post from 2009, which suggests that spousal RRSPs are treated the same as regular RRSPs, but wanted to confirm if anything has changed since then.

Thanks so much.

Yes, they are treated the same.
After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best
