US resident taking dividends out of Canadian corp

Post by skybo »

I live in California. I am a US tax resident, and Canadian tax non-resident. I am a part owner in a small Canadian corporation.

I want to take out some profit out of the Canadian corporation as dividends. What are the tax implication for that? Do I need to pay taxes on it in Canada? Will it be taxes as a regular income in the US, or will it have a lower dividend tax rate?
