Period being a US person for FBAR purpose

Post by cakik55 »

Hi,
I am preparing to file Fincen 114 right form now. I immigrated to US with a green card on June 06, 2022. I have a checking account ($10,000) and a RRSP saving account (not parked in a investment account but in a bank account) in a Canadian bank. I understand I need to submit Fincen 114. Do I look for the maximum value after the date or the entire year of 2022 for Fincen 114 form, Part II Colum 15? Please help me!

Just put the highest value for 2022. This is not crucial. No need to overthink this. Put all foreign accounts you held in 2021, and their highest vakue. Period.
nelsona non grata. Non pro. Please Search previous posts, no situation is unique as you might think. Happy Browsing :D
