I'm a Canadian citizen and had a permanent residency in Canada, but obtained my US spousal green card on April 17, 2021. I know I become a US tax resident starting on this day.
However, I continued working for a Canadian company during this time (remotely) and travelled back and forth between the US and Canada up until August 20, 2021, where I then started a new US job (in person) and moved all of my physical belongings and physically 'left' Canada.
Am I considered to have departed Canada in April (date I 'emigrated' to another country in name), or August (when I stopped having Canadian income/ties to Canada)? Trying to figure out the day for my deemed disposition of assets in Canada.

Re: What date to declare non-residency in Canada
It would be august, not because of the Cdn income, but because of your regular returns to Canada and only moving your stuff at that time.
After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best
