1040NR - IRS Refund Interest

Post by elgoog »

I am a Canadian tax resident and a USA non-resident for 2020. I know that any interest from the U.S. is generally only taxable in Canada as per Treaty Article XI. I noticed that I received an interest on my refund from the IRS on my 2019 return. I have reported and paid tax on this income to the CRA. Is this refund interest taxable by the IRS and do I report it on Schedule NEC? Thank you.

It is not reportable.
After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best
