Planning to Become Canadian Perm Resident

Post by guinn176@gmail.com »

I am a retired US citizen and plan to apply for permanent resident in Canada and spend most of my time there. All my income is from US pensions and retirement investments. I do not plan to work in Canada. Based on the tax treaty, can you give me a general idea of how much I will pay in taxes to Canada? My 2019 US taxes amounted to 10% of my total income (total taxes paid/total taxable income). Will I owe anything to Canada if that remains below 15%? thanks.

You will pay almost nothing to US, and all to canada. Can;t make an estimate, but assume 10K more to Canada.
