CRA lost my return

Post by rinconns »

On mar 23 I mailed my tax package into the CRA via CanadaPost.
The (My Account) page on the CRA website still reports not received. I called the CRA and they suspect it was lost.

I have immediatley started a new package. Im only missing my T626 for the OETC which my company is redoing for me.

My question is, could my initial package still be pending? Could my OETC deduction extend the processing times?

Other than the fact that you did not netfile (you could not because of OETC) which will delay you anyways, I don't see why your delay would be any longer than anyone else who waited 'til the last day to file.

You should expect processing in June/July.

The fact that your earlier submission was lost is meaningless.

Nelson I did not wait til the last day to file. I filed 5 weeks ago. I was just asking if 5 weeks with no activity on the account was typical

CRA told you the file was probably lost, even if it wasn't, and will turn up now, it will still be at the bottom of the pile.

If you are doubtful that it is lost, why bother prepping a new tax return. You won't owe money, so are not liable to any penalties and interest regardless of when you file.

In my case, it took 8 weeks in my case for 2010-216 tax return to be posted on CRA website under "My account" and within 3 weeks after that, I got refund deposited in the bank.

CRA rep who answer the phone look at the same information which you see online. Therefore, they donot have any additional information if it is not seen under "my account".

It is always a good idea to send return with tracking number.
