Canadian in Canada - W2 and 1099

Post by manticore »

Hello,

I am Canadian citizen, living in Canada, residing in Canada, working in Canada. I have 2 online jobs for American based companies, paying me in US dollars. I do the work from Canada online. I don't enter the US to work. One company will send me a W2 next year, the other will send me a 1099. Neither are doing any deductions at source.

I will declare both of these in Canada as world income. I was planning on filing a 8823 (country of closer ties). Do I also have to file a 1040NR? Your advice is appreciated. Is anything else required of me or them? Kind Regards

I mean to say form 8840 above, not 8823.
