Studying and working as a student in the US/income from Can

Post by lhaselton »

Hi,

I am new to this forum and am just starting to get organized with my tax returns. I am a bit confused, however, about which country I should file in.

- I started studying at a US university in June 2010
- I work on campus so have US income but signed a tax treaty to not have tax taken off my cheque (although they did accidentally take some off the first few months)
- I worked in Canada at the beginning of 2010 so earned Canadian income as well
- I withdrew money from my RRSPs and had taxes withheld in Canada
- I have a tuition receipt from my US school

I am very confused about where I should file my taxes given that I had taxes taken off my income in both countries, and have tuition receipts from the US.

Thanks very much in advance for your help!
