Form 1116 & Treaty-Based Income Exclusion

Post by blitzloper »

Hello,

I'm a Canadian and American, living in Canada. I have 'Government Service' earned income I'll declare and exclude from my 1040 using a Form 8833 Treaty Disclosure.

I'm trying to put together my Form 1116 for non-US dividend and interest income, but I'm not sure what to include in the calcuation of my Gross Income from All Sources (line 3e). Do I include my earned income here even though I exclude it from my 1040 through the treaty declaration?

Your software will figure this out. Do not do 1116 by hand.
After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best
