Unused Canadian tuition amounts on becoming non-resident

Post by aardvarkzki »

Hi, I have a question regarding accumulated unused tuition/education amounts.

I am a Canadian about to become a tax non-resident of Canada and a tax resident of the US. I have unused Canadian tuition/education amounts (on Schedule 11) that I have been accumulating during my time as a student. What will happen to these tax credits on becoming a non-resident of Canada? I ask because I might at some time return to Canada to work, and they would be handy then.

Thank you for your help,

Karl

You (only you) can use them anytime in the future you have earned income (non-investemnt) Cdn income.
After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best
