Notice of Assessment

Post by dowager »

When I left Houston, I had a forwarding address with US Postal to my Canadian address. I was wondering what Notice of Assessment would be sent by IRS to confirm the final tax bill? The cheque cleared my bank account, but I never received anything from IRS. I subsequently sent in a change of address notice to the IRS. What do they call the Notice of Assessment, is it a matter of practice for one to be mailed to the taxpayer, and if I were to request for one, how do I go about doing it? Thanks for the help.

Sincerely,
Lost on IRS procedures,

IRS doesn't send out notices, ever. Unless there is an error or they wish to audit you.
