Travel expenses

Post by wildside41 »

My wife worked 5 months in Arizona on a TN Visa as a nurse in a hospital in Arizona. Now we are filing her wages made there in Canada. The accountant told her she can not deduct her travel expenses. Is this true. Also she was asked to come back by her employer for 9 months next year. Would that mean she is residing in the U.S. more than in Canada and in that case not have to pay taxes in Canada? We own a house in Canada in British Columbia

Her travel expenses a re not deductible.

Since she is always returning to canada, she will continue to file there. All that will mean in US is that she must file 1040 or use treaty to file 1040NR, like for 2009.
After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best
