do I need to file canadian tax on interest from CA bank?

Post by frank »

Hi
we filed departure return last year (2008 canadian return). we don't want to file canadian return for 2009. But my wife has 2 bank accounts in canadian bank. One canadian $ account, another US $ account. she got some interests from both account. the bank only withheld some interest from her US $ account, but without holding any interest from her Canadian $ account. Does my wife have to file Canadian return for the interest she received?

thanks

neither account should have been withheld. in any evrnt report the interest only in US. Its not reportable in Canada by non-residents
