Non refundable tax credits for Non resident on Canada return

Post by Nishant »

While completing part year resident return for Canada, my questions on Schedule 1 are as below.

1) Basic personal amount $ 10,320 - Line 300- Is that applicable for only the period while resident. For example if resident for 4 months, do I get only 1/3 and so on?

2) Is that same case for dependent child credit- Line 367

3) OSAP student loan- Line 317- Can you deduct full year interest or only for resident period.

4) Schedule 1 and schedule 2 have some items common. Which is to be used for claiming common item?

Doing the return using software like ufile, will correctly determine what percentage of your persoanl ammounts you will be entitled to.
After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best
