form 8891

Post by andychen_canada »

Hi, in the 8891, there is a line of "irrevocable" election if not filing previous years, is it an amnesty to forgo previous not filing mistake? Or need I go back 6 or more years to file 8891?

Thanks!

You need to go back 6 years. The 'irrevocability' refers to future years.

I've outlined in severl posts the steps required to back file.
After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best
