Canadian tax return - Revenue QC & CRA

Post by carmen123 »

I moved here to the States in feb 08 and working under TN.
I worked in Montreal, QC for 1 month before moving here. I did my tax return and they owe me money, the thing is I can't file the paperwork I filled in canadian turbo tax (inuit) since it says in diagonal 'COPY -- not for filing'. I can't pay either since it was only a month so it doesn't allow me to pay.

What can I do?

Can I just send a copy of releve1 and t4 to both Revenue QC and CRA and they would do the taxes for me? I can attach a note explaining that for tax purposes I am a US resident.

Please advice.

Thanks

Carmen

ufile is much better. Use it. It will be free if you made less than 20K in 2008 in canada.

You should of course have read the Emigrant guide for departing residents on the CRA website (the same rules apply for MRQ).
After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best

Remember that you are not entitled to your full basis amount deduction, so let the ufile tax software do its job. Put a departure date on the return.

... and I don't see why intuit would not 'allow' you to pay for the return (unless it was free). Sounds like you aren't following the intuit rules.

Themn you should have no trouble printing out the mail-in form, eh.

Mkae sure you put a departure date, andthat you have listed all your property held on the day you left, and are paying any cap gains on them based on that day, and have notified all payees of your status, ...and ... and .. and...
