American working for US corporation living in Canada

Post by ml2016 »

I am an US citizen living in Canada working for a US-based corporation. I am being asked to provide a W-8BEN. Is this right? Should I provide a W-9 instead?

Thank.

Correct. As a CDn resisnt, remeber that if you are an employee, you must be on a CDn payroll (Fed/Prov taxes and EI, CPP withheld), nota a US payroll.
nelsona non grata. Non pro. Please Search previous posts, no situation is unique as you might think. Happy Browsing :D
