Tax Implications of Landing mid-year

Post by Trent »

My wife and I are planning to land in Canada in July/August. A few questions:

1 - Which country will we be considered the main resident for tax reasons?

2 - If the answer is Canada, will we be taxed on the apartment we sold in February?

3 - Is there a downside to transferring money to a Canadian bank account months before we actually land?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks

You need to read the "Newcomers" guide from CRA.
After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best
