Form 8891 - Beneficiary & Annuitant

Post by one_day_at_a_time »

I'm looking for some clarification on the definition of these two status options. What I'm getting from the IRS is just about as clear as mud to me.
Thanks

Always use beneficiary.

Since I received mis-information from the IRS, I had submitted the form and designated myself an Annuitant (I did make an election to defer). I suppose now I will wait until the assessment is returned and see the result. Do you suggest that I make an amendment to the tax year in question or just change my status on subsequent years.
Thanks

Correct it. By saying annuitant, you have likely not fileld in one of the lines you should have, namely, year-end value.

Don't bother phoning IRS.
