Canadian working for a US based company from CAN

Post by peterkarcz »

I am a web designer based in Toronto. A US company wants to put me on their payroll (as their employee). I will not be relocating, just simply doing work from my home office in Toronto. What are the necessary steps that we need to take? Are there any tax forms I need to file, if so which ones?

Please help, thank you.

They need to pay you as a Cdn employee, on Cdn payroll (which can be troublesome for them) or simply pay you as a contractor.

You should have no tax liability in US, and shouldn't even have to file a return in US, if they do things correctly.
